Our Mission Statement:
The purpose of Phi
Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year
college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide
opportunity for development of leadership and service, for an intellectual
climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars,
and for stimulation of interests in continuing academic excellence.

Membership Qualifications
Qualified students are invited to PTK membership twice annually, once during each of the fall and spring semesters. In order to qualify, students much hold at least a 3.5 GPA over a minimum of 12 credit hours in courses representative of the general education curriculum, earned either at NMSU-C or another accredited institution, and must be currently enrolled at NMSU-C. Developmental courses may not be counted toward the requirements. Students must be eligible to pursue an Associates Degree; students already holding a degree from NMSU-C are not eligible. Additionally, it is expected that invitees to Phi Theta Kappa will be of good character. Chapter advisers will consider the transcripts an other qualifications of potential inductees and oversee the invitation process.
